#11. Zi Char Part 1 - Zion Road.

The foodieManiacs team together with their friends (altogether the 10 of us) went out for dinner one evening and we went to check out what SizzlingWoks (a local TV food show) introduced in the show.

Allow me to bring you through this journey...

Siang Hee Restaurant (双喜餐馆)
The helpers.
Luo Han Guo Pork Ribs and Steamed Tofu.
Claypot Vegetables.
Eggs with Prawn.
Prawns in pumpkin sauce
Stir fried French beans

What are the must-tries in this stall?
We recommend Luo Han Guo Pork Ribs and Prawns in Pumpkin Sauce.

Let me also share with you the food that we ordered and their service to us.

The serving was way too little for the 10 of us especially when all of us are huge eaters and also when 5/6 dishes we ordered were 'Large'. The Claypot Vegetables was the only food item which was 'Medium'. We reached the place at about 7 in the evening and a few of the dishes on the menu were already finished then. Most of us guessed that it might be because of the television show that boosted the stall's popularity and hence, the food items were already sold out.

On the other hand, the helpers' attitudes were bad especially when we were ordering our food. She kept rushing us to order our food when we were still undecided on the dishes we want to order. When we were finalising the order, she came up to us and told us 'not to joke' with her. Overall, she was too impatient with us.

Some of the comments made by our friends:

Luo Han Guo Pork Ribs and Steamed Tofu -
"Both are nice. Especially the Luo Han Guo Pork Ribs."

Claypot Vegetables -
"A generous portion for medium size. Vegetable prices are cheap i guess..."

Eggs with Prawn -
"This dish wasn't good, nor was it bad. Just normal..."

Prawns in Pumpkin sauce -
"Sweet, crispy. Very good!"

Stir fried French beans -
"Sucked like ****. Seriously."

Click here to view how the Prawns in Pumpkin sauce is made.
(Video is in Chinese and Credits to Mediacorp TV)

We have also made our very first video: Zi Char Part 1 - Zion Road.

Price of all the food in total: $85.

Message from the management:
Curry favor is the first Japanese Curry (J-Curry) specialty restaurant in Singapore. At curry favor we firmly believe in creativity but always authentic to the culinary roots of Japanese curry. We do not serve the typical instant curries that even top fine dining Japanese establishments in Singapore dish out.

What we have is a range of authentic Japanese curries that are carefully created by our Japanese chef in a process that spans more than 5 hours daily. Our signature curry sauce is the essence of our intense research effort, using only fresh vegetables to bring out the spectrum of flavors from carefully selected curry spices.

Curry Favor’s Japanese curry is one of the best you can find anywhere in Singapore, or South East Asia. Here at Curry Favor, we welcome you to savor one of the finest forms of Japanese cuisine that millions of Japanese must have on a weekly basis. And, by the way, Japanese curry does not have to be very sweet and gooey. (taken from hungrygowhere.com)
